Why do resistors and LEDs get hot when turned on?
Hello, I have such a problem, I decided to assemble LED headlights on the headlights of a car, or as they call it “angel eyes”. Etched foil textolite, soldered the triples sequentially LEDs (direct voltage of the LED 3v 60mA, this is the testimony of the laboratory power supply). I thought that when you connect 3 LEDs in series to a 12V power supply, you need a 50 ohm resistor. And most importantly, it turned out that I took 100 Ohm resistors because I wanted the LEDs to work in half the glow for better preservation, as a result, when I connect one three to the block, everything works fine, but when I connect the entire LED ring (91 three consecutive LEDs LEDs are connected in parallel, a resistor of 100 ohms for each three) to 12v, resistors and LEDs begin to heat up very much, even the smoke went as a result. Please help, what's wrong?
Hello! Take the same resistors but with more power, most likely you took very weak ones. Take 1-2 watts. It should be enough.
