Why does the subwoofer not work?

Hello! I have a microlab speaker - two speakers and a subwoofer. The native cord connecting the phone and the subwoofer broke and I bought a new one. At first everything worked, but after a while, the sound disappeared. That is, it is, but muffled and there is no bass. I tried to twist the plugs that are inserted into the subwoofer. And if you pull one plug in half and hold the other diagonally with your hand in the input, then everything starts to work. Tell me, please, is the case in the cord or in the connector itself? That is, will buying a new cord help me or not? thanks for the help
