How to connect a home theater to a TV?
So, you bought a new home theater, consisting of a DVD player, receiver and speaker system (usually 5.1). Now, to enjoy viewing, you need to connect all the cords into one single system. How to do it? Everything is quite simple, the main thing is to correctly connect the connectors in letter and color coding.
Instructions for connecting a home theater to a TV are as follows:
- We study the circuit that comes with the devices. It is best to focus on the method of wiring that is recommended by the manufacturer. If the scheme is missing or not clear to you, it may focus on the simplest option provided below.
- We determine which connectors are on the receiver and the back of the TV (by type as in the photo). In modern models, an HDMI connector is used, in older models - component (RGB), S-Video or SCART. Preference should be given to the first option, because In this case, the picture transfer quality is the highest.
- We display the picture on the screen. To do this, connect the “OUT” connector of the receiver to the “IN” of the TV in one of the selected ways (for example, HDMI OUT - HDMI IN or MONITOR OUT - MONITOR IN). Wires are usually included. If there is no HDMI connector, you need to connect the cinema to the screen with tulips.
- We output the sound to the speakers. To do this, we use optical (OPTICAL), coaxial (COAXIAL) cable or the well-known "tulip" (RCA). It is necessary to connect the TV “OUT” connector to the “IN” of the receiver (for example, OPTICAL OUT - OPTICAL IN). It’s best to connect your home theater to your TV using an optical cable.
- We connect a speaker system to the satellite receiver. On the rear panel you can find such labels as: FRONT / CENTER / SURROUND / SUBWOOFER, which means - front, center, rear speakers and subwoofer, respectively. According to color marking wires, as well as the designation "+" and "-", you need to connect the bare contacts using a push or threaded method (depending on which one is present).
- We install speakers from the home theater in selected places. As a rule, the front ones are located on the sides of the screen, the central one is below or above the viewing area, and the rear ones are behind. The installation location of the subwoofer may be arbitrary, but it is best to place the device on the floor next to the screen, as shown in the picture.
- We hang the TV on the wall (or place it on a small nightstand).
- We connect the cinema to the mains and check the installation by running a movie from the home collection or a TV program (at least check the speakers). Sound and video should be without interference.
This is how you can connect a home theater to a TV so that there is sound and video. You can also see the whole essence of the connection in a visual lesson:
We draw your attention to the fact that you can use the speakers as speakers to watch regular channels. Of course, stereo sound may not exist, but it is clearly better than the weak speakers of a TV device.
