Rating of the best manufacturers of circuit breakers
Brand Overview
So, for starters, we will briefly talk about the main manufacturers of circuit breakers. As for foreign brands, the most famous are:
- ABB. A Swedish-Swiss company, which is considered to be a leader in the field of electrical products. To date, ABB circuit breakers are the most high-quality, durable and safe to use. As you know, more money will have to be paid for such foreign products than for the domestic model. At the same time, the price difference is small, so we recommend buying machines from the manufacturer ABB for a house and an apartment.
- Legrand. Country of origin - France. Legrand circuit breakers are not inferior in quality to the ABB brand, therefore it is also preferable to choose Legrand products for electrical work. The cost of machines is about the same, in fact, as well as reliability.
- Schneider Electric. Another French company that closes the TOP-3 of the best manufacturers specializing in the production of reliable circuit breakers. Schneider Electric has long settled in the market for electrical products and has many positive reviews from experienced electricians.
- General Electric. An American manufacturer of power machines and other electrical products, which can also be called one of the best in quality. Today, there is a lot of discussion on the forums about which is better: GE or Legrand. Here it can be said that both brands produce good quality circuit breakers, but in fact, there is more demand for Legrand in the market.
- Siemens Siemens company specializes not only in the production of automation, but still has a wide range of models for industrial and domestic use. The quality is already a little worse than that of the three leaders, but still it is very high. The price is also slightly lower compared to manufacturers such as ABB, Legrand and Schneider Electric.
- Moeller A German company that successfully competes with such a global giant as ABB. Despite the fact that in 2007 Moeller was acquired by the American Eaton Corporation, this did not turn out to be worse for the quality and reliability of the products. Moeller circuit breakers comply with all international standards and are very popular.
Among domestic manufacturers of automatic machines, the best quality is for brands such as:
- KEAZ. The products of the Kursk plant are of average quality and about the same price. In the line of circuit breakers, you can find a model for any rated current, at the same time, a guarantee for automatic machines for 2 years, which further indicates good reliability of the products.
- IEK. The notorious, judging by the reviews on thematic forums, is a Russian company that makes machines of dubious quality. The drawback of the IEK products is that when the clamping screws are tightened, the plastic case can diverge. At the same time, the AB is humming, even if the load is far from critical. Despite its shortcomings, IEK circuit breakers are in high demand in the Russian and Ukrainian markets, which is associated with the low cost of automation of this manufacturer.
- Contactor. The plant is owned by Legrand, therefore, product quality is an order of magnitude higher than that of other domestic brands. At the same time, the cost of Kontaktor machines is about the same as that of the products of the European Union countries, therefore, as it seems to us, it is better to buy a proven automation system and be sure of its reliability.
- DEKraft. A relatively young Russian company that produces electrical products. Low cost justifies not too good quality, compared with global manufacturers. At the same time, draft machines comply with all Russian standards and are even used in the construction of budget industrial facilities and mass housing.
I would also like to say a few words about products from China. Chinese circuit breakers EKF electrotechnica, whose direct competitors are IEK machines. Both firms have approximately the same price and similar quality. Oddly enough, China gives a guarantee on its goods for a period of 5 years.
Our rating
So, we have listed all the most popular domestic and foreign companies that are engaged in the production of these devices. Now I would like to provide my own rating of manufacturers of circuit breakers for 2019:
- ABB, in particular the S200 series. A detailed overview of ABB machines is available at: https://our.electricianexp.com/en/obzor-avtomaticheskix-vyklyuchatelej-abb-serij-s200-sh200l-i-basic-m.html. A bit inferior to the SH200.
- Legrand TX3 or DX3 Series.
- Schneider Electric Acti9 iC or iK Series. More budget option Easy 9.
- Siemens, 5SX, 5SY, 5SP, 5SL series.
- General Electric, DMS LINE.
- Moeller, PL6 or PL7.
- Hager, MC Series.
- KEAZ, OptiDin BM63.
- Eaton, xPole Home. By the way, we did a review of the machine of this series in a separate article: https://our.electricianexp.com/en/obzor-eaton-xpole-home-hl-c161.html.
- DEKraft, VA-103.
The only thing I would like to clarify is that this rating of manufacturers of electric automatic machines is not entirely convenient, so that on its basis choose circuit breaker for home by company. Here you should first decide how much money you can allocate for protective automation for home electrical wiring. Even companies such as ABB have their own series of low-cost budget models. If you need to buy an economy-class automatic machine, we recommend that you still prefer reliability - to the Legrand, ABB and Schneider Eletrick brands. For supporters of Russian products, we can advise DEKraft, as on the forums we have not met a lot of negative reviews about this company!
We also recommend watching a video lesson, which clearly shows a comparison of circuit breakers from different manufacturers:
That's all I wanted to tell you about companies specializing in the production of protective automation. We hope that you will make the right choice and take advantage of our rating of circuit breakers!

What about hager? Where in the ranking would it be located?
Well, of course, you can give Hager 7th place, but for some reason they did not gain much popularity. Either the brand is poorly promoted, or everyone is used to trust ABB and Legrand. In general, the quality is also good and the price is reasonable, who is used to what.
I would also like to know about the rating of the company AV Techenergo
As reviews of Techenergo circuit breakers show, the quality of the machines is very poor. All experienced electricians recommend avoiding products of this company, not only AB, but also sockets, panels, etc.
And who whispered this to you ?! Automatic machines have passed certification in DEKRE (Netherlands). Modern production. Consumers are satisfied. No refunds. A number of electricity retail companies in the free choice, according to operating experience, recommend the installation of "more expensive - ABB, cheaper - TE". There are many consumers on the market who prefer this particular product. And then “on you, grandmother, St. George’s Day” ... put the firecracker there again and blow it (AB) to record, it will turn out more convincingly than the words and there is already such an experience. There are specialists who can share. Perhaps this is the very “experienced" (see the comedy of the same name). It is hard to disagree; competition by any means is good. What matters is not the method itself, but the result.
According to IEK. I read your rating, it turns out a terrible, scary machine. I'm afraid, I'm afraid. You doused it with dirt without proof, you never know who doesn’t like him and you forgot to mention: the color is yellow ... and he has one advantage: the price is low. Why, then the people buy it in unmeasured volumes and spit on all your tips and ratings?
In general, the rating is sucked from the finger. I’m not even talking about objectivity, this is not the case. It is necessary to prepare such articles with greater responsibility to the customer, otherwise there will be embarrassment. Five years of experience is not enough in your biography, perhaps during this time you did not have time to hold all these machines in your hands and not what to discuss on this subject.
And why is ShE worse than Legrand and ABB? They are different too. Can you compare Schneider DeKraf with tops of ABB? It would be interesting to know if the assessment was made by quality, technical characteristics, appearance or hype? Or is it a complex (well, for sure). And tell us what the difference between them is, on what scales you all took this into account. Right on the numbers, test results, collected statistics ... then it will be more convincing, at least something can be taken into account or challenged.
And you read about IEK in the forums of "happy" owners of apartments decorated with PIK and how they suffer with this wonderful electrician ...
iEK products are complete shit. And the volume of consumption does not mean anything. We just have a very low consumption culture. Type: we give the country coal, small, but a lot.
We have the most complaints about IEK. And color is not so important. Although the color is appropriate.
A magnificent, impeccable machine, one of the best on the market! The company takes the quality of products under its brand very seriously. I advise everyone, verified over the years. One look is worth it! The latest technological development at 6kA, supplied to the market is very successful. What is written above ... I don’t even want to comment.
Today - some of the best circuit breakers! Real 6 kA, highest quality, great appearance. Technologically - one of the most modern developments. Well, no compromises in production.
Cool machines, I think that Tehenergo produces the best equipment from domestic manufacturers! Its 6kA modular circuit breakers work flawlessly. In 2014, the company stopped the production of 4.5 kA circuit breakers, which were of good quality, reliable, but the transition to new circuit breakers brought this series to a higher level. The old one was the usual one, which got everyone's teeth on edge, of the previous development. Although it continues to be delivered to the market even by highly respected companies. What a strange thing! Tehenergo, in this regard, is pleasantly knocked out with its products: a new and more modern series of automatic machines is liked by consumers, reliable, aesthetic!
There is nothing angry in these machines, our electricians in the Moscow region do not approve of them, they use only ABB.
It's nice to hear that electricians in the Moscow Region use only ABB machines. This once again proves that all the money is spinning in Moscow.
When writing, sometimes you have to think. Is that all right? Only ABB ?! No compromises in the suburbs? Why do not approve and why not approve? Schneider, Legrand, Muller and all others, such as IEK, TDM - all home! More "experienced" electricians near Moscow your machines do not use! Only ABB! And you all, relax with your products! IEK, return the machines to China, they are no longer needed.
And Ukrainian-Chinese ASKO Ukrem?
I would put the top like this:
ABB
Schneider electric
IEK
Moeller
Legrand
KEAZ
Did not work:
Contactor
General electric
Siemens
Dekraft
What surprises me is the conviction of some comrades that European brands are certainly produced at a factory in Germany, France, etc.))) In fact, almost everything is China. Some products are of better quality, others are full slag.
Therefore, I often see no reason to overpay for Europe of dubious quality.
Well, I don’t know about China, I always order in Germany and take only Schneider Electric and have never met any slag, of course, there are minuses, in order to get a good price you need to buy more than a thousand Euros
Schneider Electric and why in Germany? with the same success you can order immediately in China)
PS
Schneider Electric (Schneider Electric) - French power engineering company
Schneider Electric has built and launched three plants in Russia.
Where is ETI?
Where is Chint?
Chint machines have not yet gained sufficient popularity in the Russian market.
Chint in quality is in no way inferior to European firms, but cheaper. I have been using it for more than 5 years
I always work with ABB, and sometimes with Legrand. I was taught to distinguish Chinese ABB from German. There is a realizer who told secrets. I work less often with Legrand, but I consider these two brands to be the best in the world.
I appreciate ABB for its quality and its crescent-shaped clamping washer, which clamps the rails and wires perfectly at the same time.
teach distinguish fake
A double clamp for simultaneous connection of a Pin bus and a wire first appeared at Siemens, then at ABB, then at SE, and since 2015 at OEZ (Siemens).
It's cool when everywhere they write about the high quality of ABB, and there they write that the power to the machines should always be brought from above. Well, and how to get it out of the tire assembly, this ABB with one latch, when the tire is on top?
Photo: OEZ Minia LTE and LTN (Siemens).
Then I would like to know which brand in your opinion with the lowest price? If you do not take into account the quality (you can from not very hyped)
In the rating there is no place for circuit breakers with the lowest price. Another thing is the optimal price and quality. So they are in the ranking.
Now there is an action from EKF at well-known sellers of electrical products, Minimax, your house, etc. Basic series automatic machines for 40-50 p. instead of 80-90, UZO is electromechanical 360 instead of 850-1100, electronic 150-250. But they take it apart quickly, he took the last one in your house and Minimax in his city.
On the left is German, letters and numbers are sharper and finer, as well as darker.
Chinese with muddy and light slightly numbers, plastic is lighter and has a more tangible smell.
Below the flag are numbers of different fonts.
I also noticed on German a copper plate on top, on Chinese brass.
I would distribute like this:
1. Siemens
2. ABB
3.Hager
4.Moeller
5.Legrand
6.Eaton, KeAZ, Contactor, IEK (not Home series).
Rest:
EKF series Proxima, Chint, Dekraft, Svetozar, Viko, ASD- completely normal machines
General Electric can't say anything
Schneider Electric didn’t let down only the “higher” series, but the iC60N was unreasonably expensive, but I would have avoided recommending Domovoi, in general, if you compare it only in one row with TDM and EKF Basic, IEK Home will be a little better.
Thanks for such a useful comment !!
Eaton (Moeller) was a little mistaken at 4th place, at 6th Doepke would add to the company to KeAZ and IEK.
I would probably agree with Siemens in the first place, but Doepke is on a par with KeAZ and IEK - definitely not. The quality of Doepke, especially the industrial DLS6 series, is on a par with ABB.
Schneider Electric has absorbed several companies and continues to produce their products under its own name, such as Domovoi. Therefore, the quality here is appropriate
I would put Legrand in first place, in second ABB, but they go very close.
In third place is Moeller, in the fourth Hager and Siemens. In general, I very rarely see Siemens automation, mainly Legrand and ABB, and they justify themselves.
Why are you guys)? Legrand and ABB are the leaders of the top, but expensive, but in terms of price-quality ratio I would definitely recommend KEAZ, I have more than 20 years of experience in this field.
I agree to KEAZ’s account, he is in the 6th place in “my rating” - this is a very good indicator, IEK only reached this level with the last reincarnation.
Hyuandai machines at what level? Is it worth taking them?
We install a large number of circuit breakers at the plant every year due to frequent replacement of equipment related to investment projects. And so you have to choose the price-quality ratio, although I support the rating of circuit breakers on your site, but I would like to note that the last 5 years, circuit breakers from the Slovak company SEZ (not killed) and Korean LSIS have been used. From Chinese, you can install only CHINT.
Thanks for the feedback!
I agree, of course, in your ranking leaders. But SEZ Krompachy is a European brand, Slovak rather, professionals know him. Automatic machines have been standing for 8 years, and this, as I understand it, is reliable.
And probably made in Slovakia, not China. If you want to buy a circuit breaker for a long time, take SEZ. It is simply not hyped, but sold throughout Ukraine.
And someone heard about a manufacturer like Nader
Comrades, here I read you and go nuts. All such serious electricians, but obviously follow the generally accepted notions of well-known brands. Maybe ABV used to make good module equipment when it was manufactured in Europe, but today everything looks different. For some reason, no one has yet spoken about the series. Everyone absolutely, without exception, has factories both in Europe and in Asia. The Asian series are naturally lower in price and quality.
In short, the rating should be such for the Russian market .:
1.Legrand DH and SE acti9 IC series
2ABB professional series s200
3. TX Legrand
4. SE acti 9 iK
5. Home series: easy9 shae
6.SH200 abb
7.RX Legrand
8. House SHE
9. Dekraft (cheaper and more reliable IEK, ECF, TDM)
10. IEK
I agree. If you specify a series, it becomes more clear. Than just to name the company name.
"Federal"? about this device, what can you say from personal experience?
From personal experience I can’t say anything, I haven’t used or heard of such a company. And there are no reviews on the Internet about Federal Electric, which is also suspicious.
Dekraft normal series we use them on load-lifting mechanisms in very harsh conditions it is high humidity low and high temperatures where ABB just crashed iek crashed happened in an hour
I heard that Dekraft is a Schneider budget unit. I heard from the Schneider representative.
About 20 years ago I bought AB Siemens at 25A. Since then, all ABs of this company are in the house. The current is cut off ONCE. The quality is excellent. For a short response super fast. Any wires clamp perfectly. In a word, German quality. Personal opinion. Not to anyone, not imposed.
It depends on the Siemens series ..
If 5SY6, 5SJ6, 5SX2 is normal. If 5SQ - it is better to replace them, these machines are not current-limiting. Those.they allow a larger amount of energy to pass when closed compared to modern machines with a third class of current limitation.
Earlier they used IEK, now the quality has generally fallen, they began to take Dekraft, they are happy with everything, they work very well. But this is of course from the budget series, from the high we use ABB SHE Legrand, we are also satisfied in principle, although ABB has recently also begun to fail
De Kraft was bought out by the SE, the production has long been finalized. Rejection is much less than that of IEK, ECF, TDM
And what about the quality of machines, etc. SHIELD firms? Has anyone used it?
Hager definitely only stamps France. No complaints so far. Great machines. Cheaper Legrand and no worse. Sense of overpaying for a brand alone
It all depends on the budget, if there is money then there is always expensive and high-quality equipment, if finances are limited, then the choice of IEK, ECF, Dekraft. We have now completely switched over to Draft, relations with others have not developed, and here the price and quality pleased. By trial and error, everyone finds his own.
The best machines in the world
Read electrician blogs from one euro country. They never mentioned fakes. Also for quality and reliability. Of course, no Russian brands are mentioned at all, and the Chinese ones are also not mentioned. 1 SCHRACK Technik. 2Eaton. 3ABB. 4 HERTZ. Infa about Shrek and Herz is still nothing at all. (A) The type is also very little offered - all speakers. There is no type A binding. Europe is big. And who has read at least some legislation of any euro country on banning nuclear power plants? Delirium replicated.
RCD type speakers in Germany do not put in new housing since 1985.
In England, it is still full of RCD type AC. After the release of the new British electrical installation rules BS7671 (18 edition) last year, they will switch to type A.
Conversations of the type - RCDs are prohibited in the West type AC and machines less than 6 kA - this is a wrong generalization. Somewhere prohibited, somewhere permitted, depends on the national standards of a particular country.
Photo: BBC Stotz (ABB) differential machine type A, 6 kA. The BBC was renamed ABB in 1988.
RCD type AS is a device of "general use", suitable for electric heaters.
More about the delirium ...
Today, in some European countries, RCD type A is the MINIMUM safety standard.
And in these countries, for some of the latest models of sophisticated washing machines and for LED lighting, an RCD type F is already recommended.
This is type A with the ability to detect leaks on the background of a mixed signal up to 1 kHz.
I support the domestic manufacturer, and this is KEAZ and Kontaktor. Get the right model is not easy and not fast.
All IEK and the Dekraft are the ones that I see from China. European brands are mainly Bulgaria and Poland, but China and India can also be caught.
Choosing whom to pay is a personal matter for everyone, but neither Asians nor Europeans are in a hurry to feed you.
I have been using EKF for 7 years. I have never failed. The Proxima line also has very convenient places for filling provided, unlike most competitors, where dancing with a tambourine is needed. In Moscow there is their office. shop - this fakes have not yet come across.
I watched a video about comparing circuit breakers. Actually the video is about nothing .... Where are the operation currents ?? Operation time? The fact that even the most slag circuit breaker turns off is a no brainer, but the main characteristics are the value of the operation current and the time during which it will disconnect the load and the compliance of these indicators with the manufacturer's statement on the device. KEAZ is an automatic machine ???? According to the results that we received in the laboratory when checking this “miracle”, everything will be burned until it shuts down, or maybe it doesn’t turn off at all, but everything burns, the technician actually made kamikaze.IEK homeless is an option for people with a lack of self-preservation, here the phrase from the movie "Brother" works fine every other time, about 50 to 50 ″. Frankly, I did not come across a Contactor. The rest is simply pointless to discuss all products of decent quality and fulfills its purpose in accordance with the declared characteristics, there are some differences in the quality of the assembly and it is not very significant to focus on them.
The differences are not in the quality of the assembly, but in the assembly method: everything that is assembled by hand (IEK, EKF, TDM, etc.) is all slag precisely because the probability of marriage is too high. Wherever a person does with his hands something more than presses the Start button on a robotic installation, there is a lot of marriage. KEAZ - the same story, they all collect everything at their factory with their hands. And it is not a matter of tripping currents or tripping time, because a non-defective IEK will work fine as well, and maybe a defective one will work for the time being. There is no control over the products, except selective, otherwise the costs will never pay off and the Deshmansky machine will no longer be deshmans and will not find its buyer
Interesting reviews of vacuum contactors kW1 voltmik
TDM are the worst breakers to buy ... stamped pseudo-brand Chinese trash
Simens 5SY has never been cheaper than others.
TDM is a subsidiary of IEK. At the beginning of the journey, even the leaders were the same, now I don’t know
Hello!
IEK vs EKF. What advise you to choose exactly from these brands.
It's just that the module has 6 RCDs from IEK at 25 A. One does not hold, the lever is lowered. Offered EKF 2g 32A. or still take an analogue from IEK?
Siemens 5SX was discontinued in 2010 - 2011. Instead, the 5SL series is available.
