You can verify this simply - take a conventional light bulb (preferably an incandescent lamp), make a control lamp out of it and touch one end of the input terminal of the machine (upper) and the other end of the output (lower) terminal, if there is a short circuit, the lamp will light up. At the same time, nothing should be in the sockets, no lamp or another consumer should not be turned on!
