Why does soft start for a power tool not work?
Good day! I purchased a two-wire soft start model zyrqd20a. Installed it in front of the extension cord outlet. When you turn on the power tool (miter saw with a power of 2 kW), the engine just as “abruptly starts” as without a soft start. Tell me what could be the matter? I am applying the photo. Does the saw start under load (sorry, it never worked)? First time too abruptly started? There is an idea that it simply burned out at the first start due to the high inrush current. Or he just turned out to be defective. Yes, and most of these devices do not provide a direct very smooth start, but rather a little slower promotion than without it.
Try to buy another module and test it on something less powerful. Although your should pull current up to 20a. Does it get warm during startup / operation?
