Why does a working chandelier not work when connected to the ceiling?
Hello! Old multi-apartment five-story building, apartment on the fifth. One of the rooms had problems with the old chandelier. When you turn on the chandelier of the star only in a certain position, sometimes you had to stagger it a bit for the appearance of lighting. For this reason they did not use it. The old chandelier was removed, the new chandelier refused to work after installation. The new chandelier is in good working order, it has been checked from the outlet.
Checked with an indicator screwdriver:
- The light is off - the indicator on the phase and zero is off.
- The light is on - the indicator on the phase is on, on the zero is off.
- The light is off, the chandelier is connected - the indicator on the phase and zero does not light.
- The light is on, the chandelier is connected - the indicator is on both phase and zero.
There is no experience in working with electricians. A couple of times I changed sockets and other trifles.
Thanks in advance!
Hello! Measure the voltage between the wires with a multimeter with the chandelier connected and the switch on. And also check the circuit by simply connecting the lamp holder. Perhaps you need to slightly pull the wires in the ceiling (they are most likely in the channel) and if light appears - if possible, replace the wire and check the connections in the junction box.
