Grounding assignment to the PGR
This diagram explains the structure of the common ground network on the PGR. I would like to know: the purpose of all the elements and what will happen if each of them is removed. For example, the purpose of the main ground electrode in the sump and what will happen if it is removed? Etc.
Hello! I am not a specialist in mine equipment, but logic tells something like that.
The main earthing switch - apparently in this case (and in all the others) - is the earthing switch with the largest cross-sectional area and contact with the ground. You even have its dimensions.
The point is that if you remove the main ground electrode, it is more likely that step voltage may appear in emergency situations, potential equalization does not function normally. Add to this the increased risk of electric shock in the mine and the huge risk of explosion and fire.
High-quality grounding allows you to accurately rebuild various protections, for example differential ones, to turn off equipment and cable lines in case of damage, and accordingly reduce the risk of sparking and other unpleasant moments.
thanks for the answer!
but what about the local ground electrode system, what is its essence and what will happen if you remove it?
With a long length of the line, repeated grounding is done in order to reduce the grounding resistance, including for the event that the main grounding bus breaks somehow - the local grounding system will perform the functions of a grounding system.
