Is it possible to set an RCD of 10 mA to a wet group?
Hello. I want to include a washing machine, dishwasher, chopper in the sink and a socket in the bathtub, cable and automatic machines in the “wet” group, respectively. Protect everything with a 10 mA RCD. But in the store, the manager says that the 10 mA RCD is very sensitive and will work just like that. Enlighten please. Thank.
Yes, this RCD is most sensitive. But whether it will work or not is unknown in your case. And the fact that “it will work just like that” is wrongly told to you. It will be triggered when a threshold of 10 mA is reached. There can be no leakage completely in the electrical wiring and some small amount (depending on the state of the wiring) is still present, plus each electrical appliance may have some leakage (it also depends on the state of the electrical appliance). It is likely that the entire “wet” group and the wiring as a whole will give such a leak and therefore the RCD will trigger. RCD on 10 mA is placed on a separate line that feeds one of the electrical appliances. And even in this case, if the RCD will operate, then it "does not just work out" - it means it responds to a leak that is on this section of the wiring or electrical device.
