How can I make a volume control for a radio point in an apartment?

We have a radio point in our apartment, from the roof there is an ordinary two-wire wire as on a home telephone, an ordinary speaker from a tape recorder is connected to it. Is it possible to put some kind of volume control between them? It just works very loudly! Or can you put a dimmer between them?

    Hello! Here is the subscriber point diagram. R1 variable resistor 22 kilo-ohms (this will be your volume control). Instead of T1, you have a column installed.
