What is the best way to connect an electric oven to a power outlet?

NNN asks:
Good afternoon. Please tell me how to be in this situation. From the builder in the apartment, the copper wire 2.5 mm two-core (except for one outlet with grounding). In the kitchen, from a socket already installed by the developer (without grounding), the master led me to 2 two-wire wires with a cross-section of 1.5 mm each without grounding (1 for the hood, 2 * for the lighter socket). From the 2 * outlet, the same wire is laid and the washing machine is connected. Now there is the question of installing an electric oven, and its connection is planned in the 2 * outlet.
The question is:
1) Is it safe to use this outlet for connecting an electric oven?
2) is it possible to additionally connect a hob to it (only for electric ignition)?
3) what power can the oven be installed?

The answer to the question:

Hello!

  1. Both the oven and the washing machine (as I understand it, you will be connecting them to the same outlet) involve connecting to ground outlets. That is, without grounding, their use is, by definition, not safe.
  2. Gas hob? If yes, then electric ignition is a negligible load, so it’s possible).
  3. The maximum current for most outlets is 16A, so the maximum power of the connected device should be: 220 * 16 = 3520 watts or 3.5 kW. There are special sockets for connecting electric stoves and ovens. Maybe you saw them - with flat thick pins. But questions with your cables (below).

Your wiring is in itself unreliable and not entirely safe. Why is there only one ground outlet? Everything to a single outlet, judging by what you wrote, is divorced by a wire or cable with a cross-section of lived in 2.5 square meters. mm Then why did the master lay the wires from the existing outlet not with the same cable, but 1.5 square meters. mm?

It is better (so it will be right) to lay a grounding conductor to outlets in the kitchen and power them from a separate machine and protect the RCD, there are still two dangerous factors - humidity and high temperatures.

with regards to why the wire is 1.5 mm - the master “quietly” just bought the wire that he found in the nearest store and without asking me, bought and installed. That is, I already confronted the fact simply because the same wire led up the ceiling to the areas for installing built-in lamps. Next came the work of laying the apron with tiles, so there was no time left for disputes and alteration.

How can I lay the ground conductor to this outlet now? Pull it through the entire kitchen to a grounded power outlet? How to power from a separate machine, if the fine finish is all done, and the stretch ceiling .... ? the one who laid the electric wire directly said that the oven can be connected without fear, another master (later) said that the wire should be at least 2.5 mm. Therefore, I am at a loss, as if the whole house would not burn. A gas oven is also not an option, since there is only one layer from the riser, you can not put tees

And where do the lights to the line with outlets? We talked about them, weren't they? Or is it you that the cable remained from the lighting and therefore used it? .. The second electrician is right, 1.5 sq. mm for a 3 kW oven, well, right just right back to back ...

As for connecting to the oven outlet, this is normal, but look at the plug - is there 3 contacts on it? So the outlet must be grounded, and read the instructions, it usually talks about how it should be connected.

How to lay - buy a cable channel, down to the baseboard, lower the cable and lay along the baseboard to the outlet with grounding. There are special skirting boards with a built-in cable channel ... Although the protective conductor cannot be connected with a cable, in your reality this is the best option, better than nothing. Some do not even have this, but with the nearest repair, spread the earth humanly (directly to each outlet without loops).

How to power from a separate machine - one of the options is to find the switch box and install a shield near it, then there will be a minimum of alterations. If there is no distribution box and it is impossible to lay a new cable to the shield that is available for you, then you can temporarily leave it as it is, or find where the cable is inserted into the room and install the shield in this place.

Previously, how were you? Gas or electric stove?
