Electric Plug Replacement Instructions
Changing a broken euro plug
If your electric plug melts or one of the pins breaks, the replacement technology is as follows:
- We cut off the euro plug that needs to be changed and remove the outer shell of the cord (about 5 cm from the end).
- We clean all 3 wires for 15-20 mm. About, how to remove insulation we told in the corresponding article.
- We twist the cores and cut them so that 10 mm of bare wire remains, which is enough to change the plug with your own hands.
- For better contact with pliers, bend the copper ends, as shown in the photo below.
- And now the most important thing is connecting the wires. Generally, a cord for connecting a washing machine, refrigerator or other household appliances has 3 contacts: blue - zero, yellow-green - ground, the remaining - phase. To correctly change the plug with your own hands, the "ground" must be connected to the central pin, the remaining two to the pins, here the polarity is not important.
- Next, you need to clamp the cable (namely it) with a plastic jumper that will fix it in the seat.
- Lastly, the Euro-plug body is assembled, which is fastened with one screw.

This way you can change the plug on the wire yourself. As you can see, the instruction is quite simple, especially in the photo examples each replacement step was discussed in detail.
How to replace an old electric plug?
If you have an ordinary Soviet electric plug that needs to be changed and at the same time the house wiring is not grounded, the replacement method will be slightly different, namely:
- To begin, cut off the failed electric plug and disassemble the case of a working product.
- As in the previous instruction, remove the outer sheath of the wire, strip the ends 15-20 mm and bite off the excess.
- Since the design of an ordinary plug is slightly different - in particular, the method of fastening the cores, make rings from the stripped ends, as shown in the photo below:
- Connect 2 conductors to the electrical plug, ignoring the polarity. We draw your attention to the fact that if you have 3 wires in the cord, yellow-green must be cut off, because it will have nowhere to connect.
- Then clamp the plate and assemble the housing.
You can clearly see how to replace the plug yourself, on the video instructions:
In this way, you can replace the electric plug yourself. As you can see, the most important nuance is to connect the wires correctly, if there are 3 wires. To do this, you need to know standard wire marking by colorso as not to confuse anything. We hope you now know how to change the plug on the wire with your own hands!
Great article! I didn’t have to ask anyone to change the plug, I managed it myself)

Many thanks! I did everything myself and replaced the plug at the washer
And my machine suddenly stopped talking after 3 minutes of work. She looked: the adapter melted, and at one horn the plugs were charred near the euro plug itself. I cleaned the horn, but I'm afraid to connect the machine, because the bases of the horns are different. Suddenly there will be a circuit. and in the morning I’m standing and souring my underwear. What to do. Thank you for your urgent reply.
Thank.
I need a plug for sure, and do not use cheap Chinese adapters.
Please tell me there are 3 veins of color: white, black, pink. Which one is the land? I change the Japanese plug with 3 outputs to the usual one.
Please tell me, is it possible to fix the plug with the transformer (non-separable)? A cable broke near her base. And this is a fork from a luminous Christmas tree, and this is just before the holiday
