Heating cable for country water supply

Hello. Inside the pipe, a heating cable is laid from the house to the well. Is it possible to leave it turned on with an empty pipe (i.e., drain water from the pipe, in case of a power outage)?

    I don’t see the point of heating an empty pipe, and the ability to leave it or not also depends on the temperature control system. One way or another, a system with controlled heating will maintain a temperature threshold at a certain level.

      this is probably not about heating the water, but about a system that prevents freezing of water in the pipe.
      Here I would recommend reading the passport of the system in terms of operating conditions.
      For example, on the Internet they write this:

      Depending on the emitted temperature, the thermal cable is divided into three classes:
      1. Low temperature. Cable heating is possible up to 65˚C maximum, while the specific power is 15 W / m. If you need to protect pipes from freezing, or to thaw them, you can choose it. Other similar surfaces with a small diameter and volume can also be heated by it.
      2. The medium temperature. It gives a maximum heating temperature of no more than 120˚C, with a power in the range of 10–33 W / m. It is used for heating drainage systems, thawing frozen pipes of medium diameter, roofing.
      3. High temperature. With a power of 15–95 W / m, the highest temperature can reach 190˚C. Mostly such cables are used in industry.

      You will most likely have a low temperature. I suppose nothing bad will happen if he warms the pipe without water.
