What should I do if, during a short circuit, an electrician changes the machine to an RCD?
Hello. Some time ago, all the electricity turned off in the apartment and the machines in the shield did not rise. It can be seen that a circuit has occurred. Maybe the cat “did” to the outlet, maybe something else. A migrant electrician came, it seems like a layman, and instead of dialing outlets, etc., he unplugged the apartment from the machines and put it on an UZO. And left. Of course there is electricity, but we are afraid to use some sockets, although they are important in everyday life. Please explain in plain language, since I don’t understand electrical terms, how dangerous is it to “sit” on an UZO? Is it possible to determine the health of the outlet by a contact screwdriver with an indicator? How to use it? Can there be a short circuit while using a screwdriver? What should it show if the outlet is working or faulty? Do you need to check the sockets with the machines turned off or on? Many thanks.
A sign of a wiring closure is a shutdown of the machine. If one of the disconnected machines is turned on once and it immediately turns off, then there is a short circuit in this wiring section. It’s not necessary to turn it on right away, as the machine may have been turned off due to overload. If the reason was the overloading of the wiring section, then after the machine has “cooled down”, it will turn on. If it turns off again, it means somewhere short circuit.
RCD is not an alternative to a circuit breaker. This protective device protects against current leaks, but does not protect against short circuits and overloads. Therefore, this protective device must be installed with the machine. If the electrician really removed the machines and put one RCD, then this is fraught with fire, since the wiring remains unprotected against short circuit and overload.
Perhaps you misunderstood what you were given. Perhaps this is a difavtomat - an UZO and an automatic machine in one case. In order to avoid negative consequences, it is better to invite a qualified specialist to check all the wiring and your shield with protective devices.
