2 simple backlit light switch wiring diagrams
On a neon lamp
Circuit breaker with backlight on a neon lamp:
As you can see, in this connection option, when the key breaks the main lighting circuit, the current flows through the resistor to the neon bulb that lights up. The resistor is needed in order to lower the voltage to a value at which the indication will shine normally, but the lamp will not turn on. This moment is very important, because even with the lights off, as you can see, a neon bulb closes the circuit. When the key is switched to the “on” position, the current will begin to flow along the main circuit, because, as we remember from school books on physics, an electric current always passes through the circuit with a lower resistance (the resistor in this case is an obstacle to turn on backlight).
Such a connection scheme for a single-key switch with a backlight is the simplest and even a beginner in electrics can use it. In two-key models, everything is similar, just instead of one lamp, 2 will be installed, for each key, as shown in the diagram below:
If you want to make an LED display, a more complex connection option is provided below. We also recommend that you watch the video lesson, which clearly shows the process. connect light switch:
LED
The connection diagram of the LED to a single switch is as follows:
The resistance of the resistor R1 must be at least 100 kOhm. The LED must be protected from overvoltage with a diode. As we said above - this connection option will not work if LED lamps are installed in the chandelier. The reason is that the resistance in the chandelier will be too great, and as a result, the lamp will constantly flash. Discover, why is the energy-saving lamp blinking in the chandelier, you can in the corresponding article.
So we have provided ways to connect the indication. Determine which circuit diagram for connecting the backlit switch is more suitable for you and, on the basis of this, proceed to remake the product! We also recommend that you familiarize yourself with how to connect a motion sensor for lighting!
It’s very useful for beginners, but fools haven’t written the law!
